,Event Oversight

  • 1. Serve as stage hand in the execution of public or private events, cultural performances, receptions, load-ins, rehearsals, strikes and restores, for both on- and off-campus entities, occurring in various venues. Work all scheduled assignments, which will include outside, daytime, evening, late- night, weekend, and occasional overtime shifts. Be flexible as established schedules shift because of changing event needs.
  • 2. Operate under the supervision of the Audio/Video supervisor in the role of our primary 'A2' for all previously listed events. This will be the primary assignment of this position and includes a higher rate when operating at this role.
  • 3. Review offered information about upcoming events for preparation of their execution.
  • 4. Other duties as assigned.

Duty Requirements

  • 1. Significant experience in event technical management for live events, music, dance, and theater. Experience working with student organizations a plus.
  • 2. Working knowledge of technical theatre disciplines: AV/sound, carpentry & rigging, & electrical.
  • 3. Ability to read and evaluate sound plots for execution of those events.
  • 4. Excellent command of the English language. Bilingual a plus.
  • 5. Ability to convey information, verbally and in writing, in a clear and accurate manner, using appropriate language.
  • 6. Ability to speak on a one-on-one basis using appropriate vocabulary, grammar, and professionalism to explain procedures and resolve issues.
  • 7. Excellent interpersonal skills and poise in dealing with a diverse range of people.
  • 8. Ability to work cooperatively & effectively with in-house staff, campus colleagues and artists, interacting diplomatically with people from varied backgrounds.
  • 9. Demonstrated high-level of personal integrity, discretion, diplomacy, honesty, and professional maturity with the ability to achieve results with others.
  • 10. Ability to work under pressure in a self-directed prioritized manner and to manage multiple tasks to meet internal and external deadlines, while possessing the flexibility to meet changing needs and priorities as they occur.
  • 11. Ability to work independently and to initiate projects and strategies to better overall customer service.
  • 12. Ability to establish and maintain priorities, performing efficiently while coping with a fluctuating workload, changing & competing requirements, conflicting deadlines, and frequent interruptions.
  • 13. Proficiency in using computers, accessories and mainstream software applications including Microsoft Office and Adobe. Q-Lab and sound experience a plus.
  • 15. Ability to work long shifts within fluctuating hours that include evenings, weekends and occasionally overtime.
  • 16. Ability to stand, climb, bend & stoop, as well as lift, push and pull at least 35 pounds, as well as to perform job-related tasks at considerable heights.
