Staff Accountant

Full-time

Location: 312 Resource Rd. Dunlap, TN SETHRA Headquarters

Function as a member of the financial operations team.

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents

· Work closely with the executive staff to provide data and informational materials as needed.

· Communicate financial information to program directors and managers to facilitate their daily operations.

Maintenance of the General Ledger as directed by the CFO.

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents Software and Account set up forms.

· Create account segments as instructed.

· Review and maintain active account segments and make inactive or discontinue account segments as directed.

· Insure adherence to Uniform Account code syntax

· Assist with the set up and maintenance of account groupings as they pertain to the reporting module.

Perform complex account analysis and reconciliations.

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents.

Journal entry approval form.

· Reconcile Balance sheet general ledger accounts with the accounts payable and accounts receivable modules.

· Reconcile G/L information based on the grant segment with funding source reimbursement requests, and funding source payments.

· Conduct account balance research in the G/L, A/P, and A/R accounts and modules for accuracy.

· Make and document correcting journal entries for account discrepancies.

· Review Accounts Receivable and Payable postings for accuracy on a weekly basis.

Update the Schedule of Expenditures and Federal Awards (SEFA) information monthly.

· Through Account balance analysis and reconciliation record entries on the SEFA Schedule on a monthly basis.

Resolve Financial Information and Data discrepancies and questioned transactions.

· Confer with agency personnel and outside sources by telephone, in writing or in person to resolve questions and discrepancies and obtain documentation to support accounting records.

Verify all reimbursement requests to funding sources for completeness and reconcile to general ledger expense accounts.

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents.

Journal Entry Approval Form.

· Reconcile expense information on funding source reimbursement requests forms with general ledger expense accounts.

· Insure that the expenditures represented on reimbursement requests have been charged to the correct grant segment code in the general ledger.

· Make and document correcting journal entries accordingly to the grant code segment accounts.

Provide support in the development of proposed grant budgets relating to State and Federal programs

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents

· Research historical expenditure data for budgeting purposes.

· Compiling data to assist with complex analysis and reasonableness tests in the grant budget development process.

Supports and back up to the Payroll position.

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents

· Train on the payroll system and payroll processing

· Provide backup in the event the payroll specialist is unavailable to process payroll due to vacations or unexpected absences.

Assist the executive staff with ad-hoc projects.

Access to Accounting Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and files containing financial documents

· Research, and compile data for various special projects.

· Consult with internal and external sources to obtain information for special projects.

Other Duties as Assigned

· Other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes Required

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of bookkeeping and basic accounting.
  • Proven ability in calculating, posting and managing financial records.
  • Excellent data entry skills along with the ability to work efficiently and accurately with numbers.
  • Must be able to make well thought out decisions based on complex funding structures and funding source requirements.
  • Proven ability in proof reading skills.

· Must possess a strong attention to detail ability and excellent data entry skills along with the ability to work efficiently and accurately with numbers.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suites computer software.

  • Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations rapidly and accurately.

· Must maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of responsibility.

· Ability to communicate in a professional and friendly manner relatively complex funding and contract information to all internal and external contacts.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • 4 year accounting degree from an accredited university.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Fund/government accounting experience preferred.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. Business casual office attire is required.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role. Must be able to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand.
