What We Need from You as Sr. Engineering Manager

As our Sr. Engineering Manager, you will
  • Carry out Flood Plain Administration tasks, including running ISWMM models, and other ponding and flooding software.
  • Address customer complaints related to drainage issues in cooperation with Public Works.
  • Manages the capital improvement program implementation and projects, and assists with development of the capital improvement program.
  • Provides Engineering lead and assistance to the development review process.
  • Establishes and maintains engineering design standards and specifications for all public infrastructure improvements within the City Limits and ETJ, including improvements in water, wastewater, paving, drainage, parks, facilities, and traffic constructed by the City and others.
  • Supervises staff as assigned and provides guidance to direct reports, including performance plan development and performance review.
  • Manages or assists with programs within the Engineering Department as assigned by the City Engineer, including but not limited to drainage and floodplain administrative management.
  • Coordinates assigned activities with various departments, outside agencies, and the general public.
  • Attends and participates in presentations to City Council, Planning and Zoning, other government, non-government agencies, and to the general public
  • Provides highly responsible and complex staff assistance to senior management.
  • Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
  • Stay abreast of, and comply with, all City and departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

You are professional and empathetic. Diligent, take initiative and follow through and follow up with projects. Not easily flustered when tense situations arise but are diplomatic and work hard to diffuse the situation and ensure that they are resolved. You establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and the public. Skilled in performing effectively in interpersonal situations, including presentations. Express ideas and compile information in both written and oral form, free of mistakes. You have knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of project management as well as knowledge of contract administration principles and practices and customer service principles and techniques. Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in engineering design and project management, and floodplain administration.
  • Experience in municipal fields is preferred.
Training (License and/or Certification):
  • Valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within twelve (12) months.
