POSITION OVERVIEW

A Cochran Senior Electrical Estimator takes the lead on large estimates, assigns tasks to other estimators, performs plan and specification review, quantity take-off and estimating software data entry under the direction of the Chief Estimator. This role is a great opportunity to develop and be provided with mentorship and opportunities for growth.

The following are the duties associated with being a Cochran Project Manager. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage other estimators on projects you lead
  • Train and mentor others in the group
  • Review specifications and plans
  • Accurate quantity take-off and entry into estimating software
  • Create detailed estimates from conceptual design information
  • Create excel pricing worksheets and bills of materials
  • Identify strategies and value engineering options to create bid advantages
  • Prepare RFIs to resolve design conflicts and ambiguity
  • Create detailed estimate scope and narrative
  • Assist with preparation and review of vendor bid packages
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors
  • Lead and/or participate in estimate review process
  • Conduct periodic site visits to confirm estimating approach is consistent with construction means and methods
  • Assist in project pursuit interviews as needed
  • Assist with department maintenance (Accubid Enterprise/Accubid Anywhere database maintenance, updating vendor contacts, updating permit calculators, etc.)

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

6+ years of electrical estimating experience with commercial, data center, laboratory, institutional, high-rise, hospitality, and healthcare projects ranging up to $50M. Experience with design build/conceptual and a plans and specifications estimating.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar from a four-year college or university; or six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Construction Document Reading Ability

Ability to find information crucial to electrical scope by reviewing all drawing sets (civil, landscape, architectural, mechanical, etc.)

Mathematical Abilities

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should have intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Estimating Program Knowledge

Experience with Accubid Enterprise (Accubid Anywhere) and Accubid LiveCount.

Code Knowledge

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
