As a Senior Corporate Counsel, you will help MISO adapt its markets, products, and services to an evolving energy landscape by providing legal and strategic advice in collaboration with business partners, on a wide variety of matters such as federal and state regulatory proceedings, risk identification, and mitigation strategies, in order to contribute to and influence the strategic direction of the organization.

You will support that vision by examining, interpreting and advising on laws, rulings and regulations. Provide leadership, strategic advice, business counseling, and expertise for internal legal resources and business partners to assist in addressing and solving FERC, state, and related regulatory issues.

We are looking for exceptional, highly organized candidates with demonstrated ability to proactively identify, anticipate, and communicate business needs with legal and strategic advice to exceed client expectations.

What we are looking for:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
• License to practice law in the state working from
• Minimum of eight years of legal experience in the electric or natural gas industries; strong preference to candidates with federal energy regulatory experience.
• Direct experience with administrative agency litigation and applicable appellate procedures

In one year as a MISO Senior Corporate Counsel, you will know you were successful if you:

Provide compliance and regulatory support for matters subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other state and federal regulatory authorities:

• Collaborate with internal business partners on risk identification and mitigation;
• Review, assess and help develop complex regulatory frameworks regarding resource adequacy and transmission system planning in a 15-state footprint; and
• Identify solutions and paths forward related to challenges facing the electric energy industry and MISO’s members.
