Job Summary (basic description)

The Senior Manager of Compensation is responsible for leading the compensation function across attorneys, legal and business services. The Senior Manager of Compensation plans, develops, and implements incentive compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the firm’s overall compensation and competitive strategy. This position is also responsible for ensuring the firm’s compensation programs are equitably and consistently administered.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the implementation, and administration of compensation programs. Leads the annual compensation survey participation, benchmarking process, and market data analysis. Continually advances firm benchmarking approach focusing on appropriate competitive peer group.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and firm objectives.
  • Analyzes US market data and trends and recommend updates to our current compensation programs
  • Provides advice on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  • Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Manage the annual compensation process, including budget proposal, base pay, and bonus. Propose guidelines and prepare projections for budget forecasting and collaborate with CHRO and Finance as needed. Develop timelines, communications and training programs.
  • Provide analytical support to evaluate plan effectiveness, metrics, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with talent acquisition providing insights and recommendations on compensation matters that both support business goals and ensure market competitiveness in order to develop competitive offer packages for external hires.
  • Participate in the preparation of materials for the Compensation Committee and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Strong interpersonal skills, leader, and good collaborator.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with attorneys and staff.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Exceptional Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience using Workday for compensation administration is required.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline required. Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant compensation experience, including leadership and management experience is required.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation desired.
  • Legal industry knowledge is desired.

For Connecticut, the expected salary range for this position is between $155,000 and $ 185,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Pay: $155,181.51 - $185,678.40 per year
