The Senior Accountant, in conjunction with the Corporate Controller, is responsible for adhering to, developing, and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures, to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions and reporting. The Senior Accountant will report to the Corporate Controller and company management and work in partnership with the company’s financial team at all levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Corporate Controller and operates under the following authority and supervision.

  • Works in partnership with the Corporate Controller, company finance partners, and external CPAs. Reports to the Corporate Controller.
  • Completes bank reconciliations for multiple depository accounts.
  • Completes balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset schedules.
  • Adheres to the organization's policies and applicable laws. Assignments are received in the form of results expected but incumbents have considerable freedom to decide on work priorities and procedures to be followed.
  • Performs full cycle Accounts Receivable.
  • Performs full cycle Accounts Payable.
  • Assists the Corporate Controller in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll.
  • Performs the direct maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial information, providing assurance that information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports, as requested.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts and researches any outstanding items; corrects as needed.
  • Reviews financial statements with the Corporate Controller and management personnel.
  • Prepares monthly use tax submissions.
  • Assists in preparing data for external CPA for required federal, state, and related documents.
  • Prepares and files required Colorado Sales tax documents.
  • Assists the Corporate Controller in the coordination of the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Provides support to the office administrative management team.
  • Prepares and files all associated employee benefit submissions (e.g. 401k, health insurance).
  • Performs other related duties including special projects as assigned by Corporate Controller, company management and/or CPA of record.
  • Is mindful of impact on others. Always maintains a constructive and positive demeanor.
  • Performs all other work duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications of Position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Associates Degree in accounting with at least 5 years of professional accounting experience, is required.
  • Experience and proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and commercial accounting software packages including Microsoft Office, is required.
  • Advanced understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
  • Must have ability to create standard and custom financial reports and to present/describe data to Corporate Controller and company management, as requested.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, and data analysis skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be adept at creative problem solving.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must have a proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows (including Word and Excel) is required.
  • A mix of demonstrated skills, abilities, knowledge, and education will be considered.

This position will allow for partially remote work on a weekly basis with management approval, once the employee is fully trained.
