SUMMARY

We are seeking an enthusiastic Casher/Deli Clerk. As a Cashier, you will provide excellent customer service while accurately processing sales transactions for both fuel and merchandise. He/she will assist in Spokane Tribal Enterprises Spoko Fuel operations, in addition to ensuring and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

As the Deli Clerk, you will provide exceptional service to customers by taking orders accurately, preparing food products and serve customers with a smile. He/she is also responsible for maintaining all self-serve areas (i.e., coffee dispensers, fountain soda machine, condiment, center, etc), maintaining clean work areas, updating and preparing display items, and informing customers about food specials, promotions, and new items; ensuring customers select products that best fit their needs.

Title: Cashier/Deli Clerk

Work Schedule: Seasonal. Part-time/Non-exempt. Flexible shifts required (all days of the week and hours, holiday and special events). Work schedule is contingent and determined by business needs.

KEY ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons via Spokane Tribal Enterprises (STE) policies and procedures.
  • Conduct sales transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Operate a cash register by scanning all merchandise UPCs to display retail pricing of customer purchases on the display monitor.
  • Enter all sales transactions into the cash register and process payment types, ensuring accurate and funds are accounted for.
  • Review customer credit cards and identification via established STE Spoko Fuel policies and procedures. Responsible for obtaining electronic authorization for all charges.
  • Issues sale receipts to all customers and count back correct change for all cash paying customers.
  • Performs duties displayed on Spoko Fuel cleaning and daily task lists; stocks and merchandises as instructed by management.
  • Document unit inventory counts of tobacco products and cash register counts at the beginning and end of every shift.
  • Ability to identify and resolve customer needs, complaints and problems.
  • Must ask for identification to verify age for any patrons purchasing alcohol or tobacco products and input date of birth into the cash register.
  • Must ask for identification verification for all Tribal and Inter-Tribal persons requesting discounts and document information in appropriate log(s).
  • Ensure established safety protocol is adhered to and be proactive in ensuring work environment meets safety standards. Ensure any applicable and required safety equipment is worn per protocol.
  • Execute and ensure all applicable food safety and sanitation regulations/procedures are abided by, including weights and measures, health and sanitation and ensuring safe work practices are followed.
  • Cooperate with other team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare food items for cold case, hot case, fresh pack, salads, special orders, and party trays.
  • Maintain self-service offerings (i.e., coffee bar, fountain soda machines, and condiment center).
  • Follow recipes to ensure quality and consistency of final product.
  • Follow established protocol when preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking food items/product. Ensure all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, and rotated.
  • Monitor food levels and replenish items in a timely manner.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness and ensure proper rotation of product.
  • Complete product spoilage and transfer records, as needed.
  • Maintain accurate department signage and pricing.
  • Update display cases and other customer-facing areas to ensure new and promotional items are showcased.
  • Receive vendor product deliveries, including but not limited to moving, sorting and stacking cases.
  • Assist in maintaining backroom supplies and equipment, as needed.
  • Ensure and maintain work areas are clean and ready to service customers via cleaning surfaces, equipment, floors, removing trash and confirm all equipment and/or tools are operational and in safe working condition.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and requirements to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location.
  • Ensure store is free of litter and spills, all equipment is sanitized and in safe good working condition.
  • Must wear safety equipment accordingly, as outlined in safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must obtain a Food Handler’s Permit within 14 days of employment.
  • Must obtain an Underground Storage Tank Class C Certification within 14 days of employment.
  • Must abide by all safety guidelines and familiarize self with and follow all Tribal, Federal and applicable Washington State laws pertaining to convenience store operations.
  • Must work flexible shifts (all days of the week and hours, holidays, and special events).

COMPENSATION

Seasonal, part-time, non-exempt. Pay rate is $16.00 per hour. Benefits package includes personal time off (PTO) (accrual rate determined by years of service). Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval.
