Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - SNF

Type: Part-Time (Per Diem)

Location: Alhambra, CA

Responsibilities:

-Evaluates speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, and hearing as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors;

-Reviews individual file to obtain background information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available;

-Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative, cognitive, swallowing and hearing efficiency of individuals with communication, cognitive, swallowing and hearing problems of organic and non-organic etiology;

-Develops and implements individualized plans for assigned clients to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities;-May treat in an individual, group or multidisciplinary setting:

-Recommends and provides devices to assist in communication;-Instructs individuals and family to monitor their own speech and provides ways to practice new skills;

-Provides counseling and guidance and language development therapy to disabled individuals;

-Recommends outside resources including vocational, educational and social intervention;

-Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests;

-Reviews treatment plan, and assesses individual performance to modify, change, or write new programs;

-Records treatment, response, and progress in patient charts including physician progress notes, rehab summaries and discharge summaries;

-Consults with other members of the rehab team.

Education:
- Graduation from an accredited educational program.

Qualifications:
-Current and unencumbered California license;
-Current AHA-approved CPR card.

Skills:

-Skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, logic and reasoning, judgment, time management techniques and data entry;

-Ability to make improvements or take corrective action;

-Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources;

-Organize, plan, and prioritize work;-Communicate with people outside the organization;

-Represent the organization to patients, clients and the public;

-Deal calmly and effectively in high stress situations;

-Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time;

-Work within a team as well as independently;

-Speak, read, and write effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience while demonstrating the proper use of grammar.
