Job Description
Are you seeking an environment that fosters on-going training and consistently strives to improve your clinical skills? Are you interested in becoming highly competent in utilizing CBT and other solution focused therapies with oncology patients? Do you enjoy running support groups? Do you thrive working in a collegial environment partnering with fellow clinicians, psychiatrists, and physicians to improve the lives of patients? If so, the Integrated Behavioral Health team at Summit Health may be right for you.

Summit Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Consultant to provide in-person and virtual assessments, interventions, and navigation to an adult oncology patient population. The candidate will become part of a team consisting of physicians, nurses, behavioral health clinicians and psychiatrists focused on intervention with patients and support to our oncology medical staff. The position will be physically located in Berkeley Heights, NJ but hybrid will be considered.

Candidates must be able to assess as well as intervene with patients in the office and virtually, provide individual, family and group treatment in the oncology environment, conduct daily physician and patients rounds, provide effective curbside consultations in exam rooms, offer chair-side “sessions” during chemotherapy treatment, provide phone assessments and follow-up, offer educational programs, work collaboratively with referring physicians and staff, educate oncology team members on workflows to access team services, and provide referral resources as needed.

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:
  • LCSW/PhD/PsyD minimum education required, AOSW a plus
  • 3 years experience working with oncology patients
  • Travel to alternate oncology sites as required
