Hanover Township Aging Services is seeking to hire a full-time Social Services Specialist. The Social Services Specialist provides casework to Hanover Township residents ages 55 and older with public benefit and government programs. The Social Services Specialist is responsible for addressing the basic needs of seniors, conducting intake of new clients, and providing ongoing assistance with resources that promote independence. This position requires knowledge of current aging issues, governmental programs available to older adults, as well as current Township services that meet the needs of clients and their caregivers. This position works closely with the Social Services Manager, Aging Services, Staff and volunteers.
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, or related field. Two years of experience in social work is preferred, preferably with the aging population or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
Salary is $42,000 annually plus an excellent benefits package including major medical coverage, vision, dental, life insurance, and retirement through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
