SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

JOB POSTING

The Valparaiso Parks Department is accepting resumes for the part-time position described below.

POSITION: Social Media Coordinator STATUS: Part-time

DEPARTMENT: Parks Department FLSA: Non-Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: As Assigned JOB CATEGORY: $15.00 Hr +/- DOQ

This position is part of the Marketing Division and reports directly to the Marketing Director. A person in this position should have strong organizational skills, professional communication skills, customer service skills, healthy work ethic, the ability to be flexible and multi-task, and the ability to work effectively in a team approach.

DUTIES

  • As the on-site representative of Valpo Parks, must always uphold a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ensures brand consistency throughout Valpo Parks platforms.
  • Develops, implements, and administers all social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,

YouTube, TikTok etc. for all department accounts.

  • Contributes to the strategic planning and overall marketing direction of the department. Provides insights and recommendations of new ideas for improvement and/or change.
  • Interprets staff’s needs and develop a concept to suit their purpose, present finalized ideas, and concepts to the Marketing Director.
  • Delivers creative solutions that strengthen and differentiate us from the competitors in our market.
  • Prepares final product through image processing, color correction, retouching, and pre/postproduction work.
  • Meets deadlines by providing time for multiple drafts for review.
  • Proofreads/edits marketing collateral prior to sending to others for review.
  • Understands graphic design standards, production methods, and costs for products/processes utilized in marketing.
  • Attend events and daily operations to take photos and video needed for promotion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Background in print and digital production, web maintenance.
  • Knowledge of graphic design with the ability to design and pre-flight projects.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles.
  • Ability to compile, review, classify, prioritize, analyze, and present data.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of reference data and information.
  • Ability to compile, review, classify, prioritize, analyze, and present data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on an individual or group basis; includes ability to speak and write clearly.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other software applications as may be necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and other software applications as may be necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • A working knowledge of standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • PC and Mac platform.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Available to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

MACHINES & EQUIPMENT

Standard office equipment that includes computers, fax and copy machines, and telephones. Other equipment may include, but not limited to, DSLR cameras, iPhones/Android/Google Phones, video tripods, paper cutting machines, pickup trucks, vans, golf carts, ATV, sound systems, and any other equipment associated with use in a recreational facility and/or park.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Incumbent performs duties primarily in a standard office environment and sometimes outdoor facilities, involving sitting/walking at will, sitting/standing/walking for long periods, bending/reaching, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling objects, crouching/kneeling, handling/grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication, keyboarding, speaking clearly, color perception, and close/far vision/depth perception.

Incumbent may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, and fumes, odors, dust, dirt, noise.
