Position Summary:
This position has responsibility for all HR activities across the Warrick Smelter and Power Plant (~660 employees and two operations). Responsibility includes recruitment, labor relations, employee experience initiatives and talent management. In addition, this role is responsible for the location’s diversity and inclusion strategy and action plan. The HR manager leads, coaches and advises on a cohesive and defined HR strategy for the site through employee feedback, people processes and relationship building. Directs a team of HR professionals, guiding their work and development.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Functions:
  • Location workforce planning and staffing plans, analysis of turnover and future staffing needs with other managers to ensure the workforce is prepared and ready for the future
  • Talent management including succession planning, employee development and ensuring local participation in talent reviews
  • Organizational effectiveness and leadership development
  • Translating business strategy into HR strategy through change management, influence and partnering with the plant manager and other site leaders.
  • Actively participates with the site lead team and advises on team building and development opportunities.
  • Work with ERBP to develop and execute on employee relations and engagement strategy
  • Crafting a diverse workforce and inclusive environment, coaches’ other leaders to do the same
  • Helps organizational structure and design evolve to fit the business strategy, guides staff on vital related changes
  • Develops plant HR team’s members to allow them to capitalize on their inherent capabilities for personal growth and to better serve the company.
  • Advises staff on leading their teams optimally by bringing to bear Alcoa’s PDP, focusing on contribution and help to resolve conflicts.
  • Serve as a member of the Plant Lead Team and act as a business partner to the team as they build and implement business strategy.
Transactional HR Functions:
  • Lead all aspects of the annual compensation planning processes for the site, mentoring managers and analysis of the plant recommendations.
  • ASAT and Government compliance to al required employment laws, policies and processes
  • Responsibility for site recruiting, partnering with the Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence and hiring managers to evaluated roles and find the best qualified candidates
  • Maintaining the site disciplinary and grievance process, assisting in any investigations, recommendations and corrective actions
  • Developing, interpreting and administrating Alcoa’s policy and procedures in the Human Resource area
About You:
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree in HR, Business or related field of study.
  • 7+ years of progressive people experience
  • Experience working in a large manufacturing facility
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Crafting/maintaining positive employee relations environment
  • Experience in a union environment would be an advantage
  • Strong planning, organizational, group facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage both strategically and operationally, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence and communicate across the spectrum of the workforce (i.e. from management through to operators and maintainers)
  • Strategically partnering with HR Center of Excellence resources to deliver location results
  • Excellent digital literacy, including Workday and MS Office (sophisticated Excel and PowerPoint skills),
