Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Coordinator

Department: Publication Sales

Reports to: Director, Operations

FT/PT: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Salary: $19.00-$23.00/hour, based on experience

Purpose of this Position:

Coordinates and carries out the daily activities of the warehouse to include inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping activities. Provides minor facility maintenance and labor related services to the Foundation.

Supervised By:

Warehouse Manager

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Six to twelve months of previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center
  • Forklift certification preferred, not required
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Detail oriented, organized
  • Ability to accurately enter data information
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, computer (includes knowing

Microsoft Office Suite), shredder, and telephone. Also uses box cutter and tape machine

  • Able to use/operate miscellaneous material handling equipment
  • Able to stand/walk entire day; ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds and push and pull heavy loads
  • Lifting required
  • Ability to drive and transport materials between Foundation locations, such as from warehouse to office building
  • Reliable, personal transportation to and from warehouse located in Greene County, VA
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities/General Duties (Including but not limited to) : o Completes order fulfillment and shipping responsibilities

  • Picks and packs publications for customer orders and checks orders picked for accuracy and quality
  • Uses computer system and PC to make inquiries and track shipments through Foundation’s preferred shipping vendor application
  • Operates miscellaneous material handling equipment to move materials, e.g. forklift and pallet jack
  • Communicates on a regular basis and as requested with CKF Customer Service Personnel
  • Communicates, either by phone or e-mail, as requested, with customers regarding shipments, orders, returns, etc. o Maintains all products and materials offered by the Foundation at the warehouse and on-site offices
  • Orders supplies from designated vendors as needed
  • Restocks all returned items. Advises Bookkeeper of returns so he/she will adjust appropriate account. Arranges for product return and coordinates pickup from customer site. Coordinates warehousing responsibilities
  • Processes supplies/shipments including unpacking, verifying, labeling, and distributing to appropriate location
  • Identifies appropriate method for shipments, e.g., FedEx, US postal service, trucking company
  • Resolves storage issues. Consolidates inventory and stores in the same area inventory typically shipped together
  • Coordinates and performs with staff physical inventories, as required.
  • Ensures warehouse is clean and equipment is maintained and operational
  • Maintains recycle areas and transports to recycle center on a weekly basis. o Assists with facility management and maintenance issues as identified by the Warehouse Manager for Foundation office building. This may include, but is not limited to: changing light bulbs and assembling furniture.
  • Drives short distances to Foundation offices and warehouse and various locations within 25- mile radius.
  • Completes other duties, assignments and tasks as requested.

Typical Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Primary work takes place indoors in warehouse building, which may be hot in summer
  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, lift and climb

  • Use and operate miscellaneous material handling equipment
  • Lift up to 65 pounds and push and pull heavy loads
  • Ability to drive and transport materials

  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License
  • Two work related references from previous employer(s) or,
