SML North America (NA) is a part of SML and has about 1,000 employees across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. We operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region.
We operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region. The Byhalia CDC is a 1.2 million square foot facility located approximately 25 miles southeast of Memphis, TN. We operate in two shifts, employing approximately 600 union employees.
We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual as a Shipping and Export Coordinator for our Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS. This Byhalia CDC is a 1.2 million square foot facility located approximately 25 miles southeast of Memphis, TN and employs approximately 630 employees. This position reports to the Outbound Office Manager.
Main activities and responsibilities for these roles:
- Coordinate outbound transport so all goods can leave at the scheduled time.
- Organize extra transport when needed while keeping the total logistic cost under control
- Produce and oversee all administration associated with orders and shipments.
- Closeout all shipping activities utilizing designated system screens and reports ensuring all customer orders have been processed and invoiced.
- Keep records of all shipments and maintain corresponding files.
- Advise helpdesk coordinators in case of transport issues affecting the customer.
- Initiate or participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Support carrier management process related to all outbound deliveries from the CDC.
- Create Hazmat documentation for shipments, including attaching documentation as required
- All other duties as assigned
- Order special transport or extra transport
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Required minimum 2 to 5 years relevant experience in a similar function in a logistics or distribution company
- Demonstrated decision-making skills with ability to multitask
- Strong customer focus and high sense of urgency with ability to work under pressure
- Highly self-motivated with a track record for taking initiative and driving change
- Strong computer skills with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SAP and DLX
- Strong experience and knowledge working in Warehouse Management Systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
- Necessary functional/language skills
- As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required
