Overview

Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department is looking for a Court Services Specialist to join our team!

This is an entry-level position offering the opportunity to gain an understanding of judicial services, programs, and policies; knowledge of court and sentencing processes; understanding of the workings of a correctional environment; understanding of criminal behaviors; and methods of conflict resolution. In this role, you'll work in the Pretrial Services program supporting adult offenders in Larimer County.

Responsibilities

Specifically, this position:

  • Interviews each arrestee.
  • Conducts criminal history investigations.
  • Verifies information on the bond application.
  • Uses the information gathered in these investigations and criteria set forth in Colorado Statutes and Administrative Orders.
  • Makes recommendations to the court regarding bond conditions and type in order to help reduce the risk for the individual’s potential return to the community.

We are looking for a candidate that will:

  • Be a proficient writer.
  • Have the ability to learn new databases.
  • Compile information from databases into a report for the court.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred.
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
  • Possession of Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three (3) months of hire date required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire is required.

Supplemental Information

This posting is to fill a current full-time vacancy. This posting will also create an eligibility list for future vacancies in both limited-term and regular positions as well as part-time, and temporary positions. If you are interested in any, please submit an application!

Successful candidates can expect to begin their work with Pretrial Services working in the Intake Unit housed in the booking area at the Larimer County Jail. The intake unit is staffed 24/7, so shifts include day, swing, and night shifts. A successful candidate will also be able and willing to work weekends and holidays. Larimer County also now has a Pretrial facility in Loveland, so its possible shift will be complete there.

Candidates that make the eligibility list for this position may be offered part-time, temporary positions within Community Justice Alternatives as they become available. Accepting or declining an offer for a part-time/temporary position will not affect a candidate's place on the full-time eligibility list.

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. Successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
