JOB SUMMARY :

Administration of the Local Area Network to implement, maintain, upgrade, and provide user support for all users. Responsibilities include but not limited to, supervising the Operations team, monitoring system performance and configuring new software and hardware. To be successful in this role, excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems experience is needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains local network traffic at acceptable performance levels and troubleshoot using packet capture and traffic utilization tools.
  • Evaluates new technologies and present them to group and management.
  • Defines systems strategy in relation to resources and current and future company needs.
  • Assists the manager by providing guidance to and coordinating staff as necessary.
  • Updates the Network Operating System, maintaining the current Network Operating System patches and updates.
  • LAN and workstation backup including scheduling of backups, restores, tape storage, tape purchasing, offsite storage, and backup verification.
  • Coordinates projects relating to the LAN including but not limited to, OS changes and upgrades, new network technologies, enhanced NOS features and platform upgrades.
  • Controls print queues and the directory structure.
  • Maintains security and disk space allocations.
  • Maintains and repair, in conjunction with contract service vendor, all PC hardware and peripherals in the facility.
  • Maintains wiring and hubs associated with the PC/LAN including twisted pair wiring, 10/100 base-T hubs, fiber-optic cabling, patch panels and Ethernet switches.
  • Provides assistance to users relating to the Local Area Network including login procedures, network management software, printing issues and security.
  • Provides assistance to users relating to software including use of existing software such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, Visio and other various software programs.
  • Provides for user training on software and hardware products, as needed.
  • Provides user support resolving issues and updating help desk tickets.
  • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures.

  • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with company policies, the Occupational Health & Safety Act. and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ensures all employees and visitors have a safe environment in that safety and housekeeping standards are maintained; and all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
  • Responds to and investigates all reports of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately.
  • Takes an active part in the division's safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division's safety goals.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a High School degree or GED with an additional five years of PC administration experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPEREINCE:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a JIT automotive manufacturing environment including a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and present information to customers, suppliers, vendors, management, employees and corporate personnel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem resolution and project management skills.
  • Proficient in all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills; and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities within and across departments/business units to meet established and changing deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Work performed in an office and manufacturing plant environments. Normal mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Frequently walks, stands, performs fine finger movements, grips/grasps, push/pulls, bends/stoops, and lifts and carries parts up to thirty (30) lbs.
