About This Job
Air and Space Force Solutions, a business unit within BAE Systems, has an opening at our Hill Air Force Base, Utah location for an AWS Cloud System Administrator. The selected candidate will join our Information Services team and have an important role in supporting our mission of Strategic Deterrence through continual improvement and innovation. The position will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement the client’s cloud infrastructure within AWS and other hosting services (this is a highly technical role providing excellent career development opportunities)
  • Work as a member of a highly technical Enterprise Cloud Department in the design, implementation, and operation of the enterprise-wide systems infrastructure
  • Demonstrate strong technical design, documentation, presentation, and troubleshooting skills working in complex environments
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve faults and errors in applications
  • Develop recommendations for enhancing approaches for software support services
  • Develop security baselines and standards for AWS and on-prem resources, hardening and strengthening security to exceed the latest best practices
  • Ensure adherence to IT infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures
  • Update work instruction documents and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with vendors in the research, development, and implementation of various technologies
  • Ensure assigned operating systems and applications are compliant with all applicable Department of Defense (DoD) directives and guidelines, including Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) bulletins
  • Train other departments for overlap support and any cross-department end-user training
  • Other duties as assigned

Certification Requirement
The applicant must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification requirements on hire date or must obtain such within 6 months of being hired.

Clearance Requirement
This position requires an active final Secret clearance upon hire date. The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance. An active Top Secret clearance is preferred.

Citizenship Requirement
The applicant must be a citizen of the U.S.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Required technical degree (typically Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technologies, etc.) and years of relevant experience for this position are as follows:

  • High School Diploma and 14+ years of relevant experience, or
  • BA/BS Degree and 10+ years relevant experience, or
  • MA/MS Degree and 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Related experience in system administration, including system design, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Experience migrating and supporting large and complex systems in an enterprise environment in the cloud
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure in a production environment to ensure high availability and reliability
  • Experience maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting physical and virtual server infrastructure such as:
    • VMware, AWS, Cisco, and Dell
  • Experience maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting Windows and RHEL environments
  • Experience maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • Experience assisting with the administration of various internal & external IT systems, including:
    • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VPN, etc.
    • Windows Server: 2016, 2019
    • Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Office 365
    • Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Teams, O365, & Zoom
    • Virtual Desktops: VMware vSphere, VDI, AWS Desktops
  • Understanding of cloud technologies, such as IaaS, PaaS, Software-defined networks (SDN), another emerging technology
  • Experience scripting and automating administrative tasks using PowerShell
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources necessary to successfully complete assignments or projects
  • Proven experience proactively managing and prioritizing multiple related projects, assignments, timelines, milestones, and follow-up communications
  • Experience with Virtual Desktop
  • Experience with operating systems such as Windows Server 2016, 2019, & RedHat Linux
  • Hands-on experience with AWS supporting large-scale deployments as an administrator
  • Experience migrating and/or extending on-premises networks to the cloud
  • Experience troubleshooting and solving infrastructure and networking issues
  • Experience implementing AWS Infrastructure Solutions
  • Experience implementing hybrid and pure cloud solutions using AWS
  • Experience implementing virtual desktops using AWS Desktops
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef and DevOps practices
