We're in search of a software engineer to join our Foundation team to solve cross-team technical problems to empower all our developers across the engineering organization. The goal of the team is to improve efficiency by monitoring and improving cost, maintaining and optimizing existing tools and services, and providing frameworks or introducing new technologies that enable feature teams to operate faster.

Engineers on the core-services team work on a wide variety of projects, technology stacks, and tools — especially Apache Kafka and Aurora PostgreSQL.

You can look forward to:

  • Developing software that empowers your engineering colleagues by providing them the tools and software platform to use or build upon to deliver their product features
  • Working on high visibility scaling and stability projects that allow the company to grow its user base while maintaining and raising the uptime of the platform
  • Learning how to use and operate industry standard technologies and introducing them into the tech stack
  • Occasionally taking on a rotation on the team as a "project lead" and exercising your project leadership skills

  • Being eager to learn about a wide variety of tools and technologies, and being ready to adapt rapidly with those discoveries and evolving understanding of the problem and possible solutions
  • Showing ownership and pride in your work by promoting your tools across the broader engineering team, educating other engineers on its usage, and providing ongoing maintenance and support
  • Keeping your objective in mind and being flexible and creative in your approach to achieving it
  • Having strong analytical skills that can be conveyed clearly through written proposals and technical specifications to share your knowledge and foster discussion with the wider team

  • Willingness to work deep into the back end development stack. Not only are you good at writing backend code, but you're capable of diving into the underlying infrastructure. You're willing to jump into our build and deploy pipelines
  • Experience scaling Aurora PostgreSQL or other datastores
  • Familiarity with Apache Kafka and its tools and ecosystem to unlock new features and enable new use cases

Compensation

$134,000 to $186,000 annual salary + stock + generous benefits & perks

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
