At AstraZeneca Oncology R&D, we are not afraid to do things differently. Our vision is redefining cancer, redefining our solutions to cancer and restoring patients' lives. In this role, you will join a dynamic and collaborative in vivo biology team in our state-of-the-art Biohub facility in Waltham, MA. The primary responsibilities of this position are to build and characterize hematologic in vivo animal cancer models, conduct PKPD and efficacy studies to support our heme R&D portfolio.

What you'll do:

We are seeking a highly motivated molecular/cellular biologist to join the Hematology Discovery group in Boston as an in vitro lab-based Senior Scientist. This individual will be responsible for identifying and validating new hematological targets, exploring small molecule compound mechanism of action studies, and understanding target biology in multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and/or leukemia. These efforts will contribute to the identification of and build confidence in clinical drug candidates though the generation of compelling preclinical data packages. This is an opportunity to participate in a wide range of drug discovery projects and collaborate with scientists across multiple disciplines.

Major Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify and validate hematological targets
• CRISPR knockout experiments and stable cell line generation
• Typical molecular/cellular biology assays: western blot, RT-PCR, cell line generation
• Assist in CRISPR screens and validation of hits
• Analyse data and maintain clear experimental records
• Organize and clearly present experimental results to project teams

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Requirements:

• PHD or non-PhD with 4+ years of experience; industry experience preferred
• Familiarity with multiple assay platforms and technologies: proper culturing of suspension cells, CRISPR cell line generation, western blot, Q-PCR, proliferation, and apoptosis assays
• Experience with haematological cancers and in vitro assays desired
