Job description
Professors
Diana Aga and
Ekin Atilla-Gokcumen in the
Department of Chemistry are seeking a
Senior Research Scientist to be involved in two research projects.
- The first project aims to determine the concentrations of emerging contaminants in municipal wastewater and stormwater using target and non-target analysis by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). The results of this monitoring program will be used as part of a wastewater-based epidemiology approach to track community health, as well as to assess the fate and transport of emerging contaminants in combined sewer overflows.
- The second project aims to understand how different emerging contaminants interact with mammalian cells and how these interactions contribute to the cytotoxicity of these molecules. We are developing biochemical assays that will allow us to study how these contaminants enter the cells and get distributed to different subcellular structures.
