Located in the heart of the Baltimore/Washington corridor, Prince George’s County borders Washington D.C. and is just 37 miles south of the city of Baltimore. The Redevelopment Authority of Prince George's County Government is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Community Services Manager position, grade 31, for the Redevelopment and Revitalization Division.

About the Position:

This is a highly responsible management level professional, supervisory and administrative position within the Redevelopment Authority (RDA). The incumbent of this position serves as the Senior Manager for Redevelopment and Revitalization with management oversight responsibility for several major components/initiatives of the Redevelopment Authority including: the Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance Program; Community Impact Grants Program; and major real estate development projects including Forestville/PEPCO development, and the Cheverly Hosptial Redevelopment. Incumbent plays a key and pivotal role by assisting the RDA Executive Director with strategic planning and agency goal setting, project/program design, budgeting, staffing, program/project evaluation, compliance and stakeholder relations. All work is complex and multifaceted requiring excellent problem solving, creativity and the ability to work with multiple agencies and stakeholders.

Examples of Work

  • Manages and oversees the Redevelopment Authority’s initiatives including real estate development projects;
  • Provides strategic planning, management and oversight for various infill development and redevelopment projects;
  • Assists the Redevelopment Authority in the development of comprehensive long and short-range strategies designed to achieve the goals and objectives of redevelopment projects;
  • Researches laws and procedures governing redevelopment projects in the County;
  • Collaborates with other County Departments about the implementation of various assignments and activities;
  • Serves as point of contact for federal, state, and local officials regarding program policies and procedures;
  • Represents the agency at meetings and makes presentations on program progress to legislative and community stakeholders;
  • Plans, directs, trains and continually evaluates the work of employees; professionals and supervisors, engaged in a variety of assignments related to the development of budgets, information technology, audits and accounting techniques, as well as program operations;
  • Advises the Executive Director in developing policy and management guidelines related to the implementation of goals and objectives;
  • Analyzes the effectiveness of operations and makes recommendations regarding policy/procedural changes.

  • Master's degree in business or public administration or related field, plus
  • Five (5) years of related work experience with three (3) years in a managerial capacity
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate must:

  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
