Job description

Opal Foods is accepting applications for the position of Farm Maintenance Lead II for our School Farm in Neosho, MO. This is a hands-on working position that supervises maintenance techs and performs upkeep, maintenance, and repair of production equipment/facilities and conducts maintenance planning duties for the assigned facility while ensuring compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations. This position will work in the laying hen houses and must be able to work in a farm/live animal environment. This position will also assist the Production Manager with other projects and duties as needed. Pay determined based on relevant experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and follow preventative maintenance program for all machines, fans, belts, motors, chains, feeders, augurs, etc. related to production
  • Ensure production maintenance techs are performing their duties, and that all production equipment is working properly
  • Assign tasks to maintenance technicians and provide overall guidance
  • Maintain records for preventative maintenance, fire protection equipment, etc.
  • Ensure the maintenance team follows the preventative maintenance program and record keeping
  • Be available/reachable for emergencies 24/7
  • Maintain building and facility maintenance throughout the year
  • Order parts and help maintain and manage spare parts inventory
  • Oversee manure belt maintenance program and schedule

Physical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:

  • Fast paced work environment
  • Lift fifty or more pounds on a regular basis
  • Bend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb
  • Work in a general farm environment around live animals

Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)

  • 1 Year previous experience troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairing industrial processing equipment
  • Previous experience related to laying houses
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Must be available 24/7 (able to be reached/on call) if not able to do this for a period of time this must be communicated with your Production Manager
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and troubleshooting
  • Willing to work off schedule shifts and/or nights when necessary
