The Hardware Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering support and expertise to Raytheon Intelligence & Space to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. Provide education and knowledge on the use of quality tools in the administration of the Quality System. Apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting products and processes, including the use of quantitative and qualitative tools.

Roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Use analytical resources and methodologies to improve product design; minimize inspection; resolve manufacturing defects/concerns; complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses, and reporting

  • Perform product and process assessments for compliance to various standards and product requirements

  • Perform Process Failure Modes & Effects Analyses to prevent product defects and mitigate risk

  • Develop Quality Control Plans

  • Develop product acceptance plans

  • Lead and support factory and product process improvements

  • Lead and support root cause and corrective action activities

  • Support hardware quality drawing & design reviews

  • Perform first article inspection (FAI)

  • Act on all applicable material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process

  • Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting

U.S. Citizenship required as the candidate must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance within first year of start date.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years related professional engineering experience

  • Minimum of 2 years as a Quality, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering professional

  • Possess effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with team members, customers, and suppliers

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and apply decision-making skills with appropriate supervisory intervention

  • Experience with technical procedures, specifications, standards, and other engineering and manufacturing documents

  • Under minimal supervision, support Mission Assurance requirements for electro-mechanical systems production area where review and quality disposition of products is required

  • Perform independent, self-guided process and product assessments, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action

  • Assure special test equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirements

  • Experience with AS9100D Quality Management systems

  • Experience with microelectronic fab, manufacturing and assembly

  • Experience with metrology, measurement tools and practices

  • Experience with performing First Article Inspections (AS9102) and/or Advanced Product Quality Planning (AS9145)

  • Ability to support external customers and suppliers, which may require travel

  • Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize

  • Knowledge and inspection application of MIL-STD-883 & J-STD-001

  • Familiar with and some practical experience of Six Sigma and/or Lean methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, and DMADV) and tools (e.g. ANOVA, SPC, Capability Analysis, DOE, FMEA, and MSA).

  • Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment

  • Project management experience

Required Education:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Desired Education:

  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience

  • For the Bachelor of Art Degrees, ABET is preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification

  • Green Belt certification
