Optavise, part of the CNO Financial Group family, is hiring a Senior Frontend Software Developer to work within the Agile development organization and be accountable for refining software requirements, providing development estimates, designing, and implementing software and managing timeline commitments as defined by the Optavise product roadmap. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining user-facing data experiences and open-source reusable libraries using modern web frameworks. The goal is to write “clean” and flawless code to produce fully functional systems according to requirements.

As a Senior Frontend Software Developer, your responsibilities will include:

  • In collaboration with the Product team, building prototype systems that meet the project quality standards and requirements and finding and addressing performance issues prior to releasing the finished product to the backend team.
  • Leading all development activities for the assigned system components, which include, but is not limited to, design, coding, documentation, integration, unit testing, and defect resolution.
  • Writing tested, idiomatic, and documented code. Completing code reviews and design reviews.
  • Working collaboratively with the back-end developers in the process of building the RESTful API.
  • Integrating software components into a fully functional software system and troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing systems.
  • Being accountable for the timeliness and quality delivery of all technical and analytical products.
  • Identifying and communicating frontend best practices to the team, enhancing efficiency and performance across the department.

The Senior Frontend Software Developer position is well-suited for you if you have the following:

  • Strong knowledge of modern web frameworks, with experience architecting and developing web applications from scratch. Strong knowledge of the frontend ecosystem (JavaScript, CSS / SASS, HTML, the DOM, JSON, XML)
  • Solid knowledge of the Single Page Application (SPA) design and architecture.
  • Solid understanding of core UX/UI principles and thorough ability to apply them.
  • Solid understanding and development experience using the Angular framework.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, Test Driven Development, and Continuous Integration
  • Experience in the design and development of responsive websites; an understanding of backend. architecture is preferred.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related area.
  • At least 7 years of the following experience:
    • UI development using modern web frameworks such as Angular, ReactJS, Vue.js etc.
    • Designing and developing web front-ends using such technologies as JavaScript, Typescript, AJAX, REST, CSS, HTML, and HTML5.
    • Defect tracking with the applications such as Bugzilla and JIRA
    • Working in an Agile environment, Test Driven Development, and Continuous Integration.
  • Understanding common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, Gulp, etc.
  • TDD/BDD experience (Jest, Jasmine, Karma or Chai)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with aggressive timelines and handle changing business priorities with grace.

What will set you apart:

  • Working with Angular 10+ in your last position.
  • Experience working with the RxJS library.
  • Experience working with ngRX.
  • Understanding and experience implementing WCAG standards.
  • Working experience with Figma software.

This role is full time work from home (WFH), also known as Remote. This role can be performed from any US based location within the central or eastern time zone. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.

Associates who live within a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and Milwaukee) have access to come into that Office up to 2 days/week and are encouraged to come into the office at least twice per month.
