Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

What You Will Be Doing:
Responsible for the delivery of accurate financial data related to Shelter’s investments to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders for all Shelter Insurance Companies. Perform accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter-end and annual investments schedules/reports, including ad hoc requests as needed. Ensure that investment reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and Statutory and GAAP reporting guidelines. Expected to maintain a working knowledge of Statutory Codification Principles and Practices and/or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Investigate, analyze and solve problems that arise and effectively communicate them to business partners.
What We're Looking For:
- Demonstrated a high degree of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities, excellent math, organizational and statistical skills. Written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize to meet frequent deadlines under high pressure deadlines. Ability to work additional hours during seasonal periods.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required. Experience with Workday Financial Management accounting system and Clearwater Analytics investment system is preferred.
- Ability to maintain schedules and work well with others with the demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop more junior level coworkers.
- Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable solutions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/related area or equivalent investment accounting work experience (Master’s Degree or CPA preferred).
- Typically requires a minimum of four years’ experience in the accounting/auditing field and at least two years in the insurance industry or investment accounting area preferred. Starting salary is commensurate with experience.
