Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst, Lab Operations is an integral contributor to the Laboratory Operations Finance team. This person is an expert in product cost and cost analysis and is a business partner to the Lab Operations leadership team; driving improved financial visibility and accountability, as well as increased profitability while maintaining world-class service and quality.

Core Responsibilities:

• Support the implementation of a full standard cost system for our Clinical and Pharma laboratories
• Partner with Lab Operations leadership and Operations Finance to implement daily, weekly or monthly reporting tools to measure actual versus standard/baseline cost
• Track and analyze trends, variances, concerns and opportunities regarding operations department cost center expenses and variances, headcount, and capital spending and provide proactive recommendations to optimize efficiency and productivity
• Partner with Cost Accounting to ensure accurate, timely financial results. Develop understanding of accrual process and balances through quarterly Balance Sheet reviews with Accounting team
• Determine fixed and variable costs and calculate and analyze volume leverage on fixed costs (e.g. indirect labor salaries, rent and equipment)
• Travel estimated at 10%

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree (e.g. Finance, Business Administration, Accounting) preferred
• 5+ years of combined related financial and accounting experience required; proven work experience as a cost accountant or cost analyst required.
• Experience in manufacturing or laboratory environment strongly preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and able to work effectively with all employee levels.
• Familiarity with internal controls and audit procedures
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Advance Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, Essbase (SmartView), and Hyperion strongly preferred.
