Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science. MS Preferred.

Your typical day as a Senior EE at JTEKT includes:

• Analyzing customer requirements and specifications to identify or create hardware and/or software requirements.
• Providing technical leadership for safety critical electromechanical components design, test design and instrumentation as well as customer reviews.
• Working with customers to define requirements, develop full project timeline with major milestones.
• Creating test plans/procedures/reports. Review/ensure test efficiency by validating model/software/hardware in the loop testing as well as in vehicle testing.
• Supporting the production plants in implementing long term prevention mechanisms.
• Developing controls for advanced features on steering or vehicle level as well as motor controls for Brushless motors.
• Assisting in hardware and software design. Including schematic and code reviews, unit testing and integration testing to verify hardware and software against the design specifications.

Skills our Senior EE must have:

• Able to gather data and diagnose problems before acting, anticipate problems and develop contingency plans.
• Able to positively deal with changes that affect job requirements; adapt to shifting priorities in response to the needs of internal and external clients.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Able to maintain strong pace and extended effort in resolution of program issues or technical troubleshooting
• Excellent program/project planning and management knowledge.
• Knowledge in motor control theory for brushless motors and practical experience in evaluating those controls on dynamometers.
• Experience in Model Based Design process and toolchain for embedded software.
• Experience with common debugging tools such as oscilloscope, network analyzer, CAN interface tools, emulators.
• Expertise with MBD toolchain especially Targetlink or Embedded Coder for code generation as well as compilers and coding rules (MISRA).
• Safety Critical Electric System (Steering, Brakes, powertrain…) development experience is preferred but understanding of structured development process (ie: V-Cycle) is must.

Skills it would be awesome if you had:

• Working knowledge of tools and processes related to automotive product development
• Expertise in controls theory (Linear and non-Linear) to develop Plant and Control models and analyze control boundaries (stability margins, performance targets)
• Working knowledge of ASPICE / CMMI as well as safety standards including IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.
• Experience with FMEA, FTA and structured problem-solving techniques (8D, 5Y…)

Travel by automobile and plane required as needed. Approximately 5 – 10%. The work environment consists of both office and production settings. PPE is required in specified areas.
