Senior Director of Behavior Supports & Psychology – PhD, PsyD, LCSW

Under the supervision of the Sr. VP of Clinical and Crisis Services, the Sr. Director is responsible for providing clinical oversight to the Behavior Supports and Psychology Services Department. In addition, you will be responsible for the assessment of each individual’s needs and the development, implementation, and monitoring of intervention programs including training and instruction of team members and individuals. You will also be responsible for completing documentation reviews and ensuring compliance with all government & agency requirements including: Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the Office of Mental Health (OMH) documentation mandated. Clinical oversight and supervision is also required. Further, this role will lead a team of professionals in closely examining the clinical planning for those individuals at higher-risk that require more comprehensive assessment/planning.

As our Senior Director of Behavior Supports and Psychology, in addition will:

  • Act as liaison between the Behavior Support team and the CSIDD NY START team, in order to ensure collaboration and consistency when developing and implementing Behavior Support Plans, Risk Management Plans, and Cross-System Crisis Prevention and Intervention Plans
  • Act as a liaison between FREE and OPWDD & OMH entities to facilitate collaboration
  • Provide clinical supervision for licensure purposes to team members including ongoing consultation and professional development in relevant topics
  • Design trainings and complete clinical rounds to support team members’ who provide clinical oversight to individuals followed by OPWDD’s High Risk Committee
  • Complete psychopharmacological reviews consistently for those individuals followed by OPWDD’s High Risk Committee,
  • Work with the Quality Improvement and Incident Management Department to develop and implement a qualitative plan that addresses the at-risk behaviors associated with reportable incidents that involve those individuals followed by OPWDD’s High Risk Committee •
  • Provide/Review/Sign Assessments including Informed Consent Assessments, Sexuality Assessments, psychological evaluations, restrictive reviews, and psychological testing, interpretation, and scoring
  • Assist with completion of risk assessments/risk management plans and assist with High-Risk Presentations at OPWDD’s High-Risk Committee meetings.
  • Lead clinical diagnostic reviews of assigned individuals, including those identified as high-risk, and design behavior support plans and effective plans to

What you’ll need:

  • New York State Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or LCSW
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience and five years of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and/or Mental Health Diagnosis.
  • Efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE
  • Experience with Psychological Test Instruments: Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales Third Edition, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Diminution Assessments preferred
  • Background with Behavior Modification preferred
  • Experience in forensic psychology preferred
