The Prince William Department of Social Services is looking for a qualified applicant for a Senior Human Services Caseworker position in the Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigations Team. In this role you will address emergency cases primarily for child protective services but occasionally for adult protective services and foster care as well. The Prince William Department of Social Services staff over 480, serve the community through adult and child-welfare programs, public benefits distribution, and homeless prevention services. We annually serve over 100,000 people with the goal of creating self-sufficiency and economic stability. ABOUT THIS ROLE:

In this position you will provide coverage as a lead worker and monitor cases assigned to Human Services Caseworkers; investigate allegations of abuse/neglect and assesses imminent danger for children and adults; interview clients and develop appropriate safety plans; provide crisis management and coordinate support services for clients to resolve problems and conflicts; make referrals to community resources; monitor clients' progress and ensure that needed services are being provided and that treatment plans are being followed through in a timely manner; attend and testify in court hearings and mediations; complete appropriate paperwork for court hearings; document all contacts and ensures that all paperwork and documentation are accurately completed and filed; complete necessary case information reports and input updates into database and comply with all federal, state and local policies.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, social work, or a related field and 2 years of social casework experience.

PREFERENCES:
Experience conducting child and adult protective services investigations; experience preparing court documents and/or reports; experience assessing family needs and coordinating appropriate services; Experience in providing supervision of subordinate staff; Experience acting as manager/supervisor and making sound decisions.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: 37.5 hours per week M-F with some after-hours work. Rotating on-call nights and weekends.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All DSS staff members are required to provide emergency human services work in the event of an emergency or community disaster. The successful candidate must be eligible drive a county vehicle.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $66,742.00 - $98,380.00 Annually
