Under the direction of the Chief Credit Officer and in collaboration with the Credit Analytics Officer and service team leaders throughout the Bank, the Senior Analyst-Credit Analytics is responsible for supporting the development of the Bank’s credit analytics, credit modeling and credit reporting. This includes data quality and maintenance, performing recurring descriptive credit analytics and reporting, and development or validation of predictive analytics using statistical and econometric models. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall coordination of workflow with the Credit Analytics Officer and with others within the Chief Credit Office to ensure the effective delivery of models, reports, and other analytics, including internally-developed and vendor-provided solutions. The incumbent must be proficient in relational databases, in business intelligence tools, and in predictive analytics, including model development or model validation. Excellent oral and written communication skills with stakeholders at all levels of the organization are required.

  • Responsible for leveraging core banking system data in conjunction with supplemental system of record data and third-party data in development of descriptive and predictive credit analytics.
  • Responsible for leading credit reporting functions, including monthly and quarterly credit reporting, implementing operational improvements to existing reports and developing analytic enhancements to the reports including predictive analytics.
  • Responsible for programming in R and in Python supporting the development or validation of credit econometric or statistical models, or other models as identified throughout the Bank.
  • Responsible for authoring model development, procedural or validation documentation to support the Bank’s credit analytic processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining professional, responsive, timely, constructive, and thorough written and verbal communications with co-workers, vendors, and others. Will collaborate with Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Data Analyst and other analytic resources across the Bank.
  • Will make presentations to Senior Management as required.


Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent technical writing skills, including descriptions of credit modeling and reporting findings. Experience in model development documentation, model validation reports or in other technical model documentation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of credit workflows including loan origination, credit scorecards, credit monitoring, ALLL/CECL and stress testing frameworks, as well as the use of statistical and econometric methods in these processes.
  • Excellent relational database skills (SQL, IBM Work Query), including full proficiency in developing advanced queries to meet highly specific analytic and business requirements.
  • Proficiency in core banking system data (Jack Henry/jhaKnow) and other system of record data (Baker Hill), including business intelligence tools and back-end data query capabilities.
  • Mastery of open source predictive analytic tools as used for statistics and econometrics (R and Python strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of credit and model risk regulatory guidelines and standards (SR 11-7, Stress testing guidance, et cetera), as well as implications of these standards for model development and for model validation.
  • Ability to learn and use technology to enhance and automate manual steps in the development of spreadsheets and other deliverables; knowledge of Microsoft Excel VBA programming including macro development preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members at various levels across the Bank organization, including executives.
  • The ability to think critically and creatively about projects, processes, and procedures in an effort to problem solve, improve efficiencies, and streamline processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple project efforts under tight deadlines.
  • Works well independently.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative or analytic field (such as Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Statistics); Master’s Degree/MBA preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a related role.
  • Knowledge of banking technology and systems of record, including reporting as well as related descriptive and predictive analytics.
  • Experience working with Bank or Financial Institution-related core and database/other systems (Jack Henry core/jhaKnow, IBM Work Query, SQL).
  • Programming experience with open source predictive analytic tools as used in econometric or statistical model development or validation (Python, R).
  • Experience with model risk management standards (SR 11-7, Stress testing guidance) and related workflow processes.
  • Experience with authoring model development, procedural or validation documentation.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, in-person meetings, and on the computer.

Physical Demands
This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Travel may be required for this position.
