KEY OBJECTIVE(S)
The Accounting Department is responsible for the daily accounting operations of American Dream™ and numerous Triple Five business entities. The group oversees accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting and maintaining financial control. In addition, they analyze financial results, assess processes & internal controls and the preparation of internal/external financial reporting.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Responsible for organizing and processing all on-going daily accounting activities associated with development of a construction project
- Structure and maintain construction/development costs including review of invoice coding to budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, and various construction progress reports.
- Review and analyze capitalization of costs. Ensure compliance with policy.
- Preparation of monthly financial statements for various entities including variance analysis for management
- Responsible for general accounting activities including preparation/review of month-end journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis
- Prepare and/or review detailed monthly and year end work papers, balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Assist in the management of auditor engagements for completion of annual audit reports
- Participate in various business processes and technology integration initiatives
- Work with accounting team to improve financial procedures
- Assist with budgets and forecasts
- Special projects as assigned by management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA preferred
- 5+ years of professional experience, real estate accounting a plus
- Knowledge of cost coding for development accounting
- CPA and public accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/accounting theory
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with attention to detail
- Team player, detail oriented, well organized, efficient and accurate
- Strong analytical ability
- Deadline driven
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Knowledge of MRI a plus
- Proficiency with standard suite of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
