Job description

The engineering aid is responsible for gathering field data for all road and bridge construction projects and to design them in accordance with all current Federal, State and Local regulations, rules and standards and then monitor construction progress and inspect all construction materials, methods, and quantities to ensure complete compliance with the plans, specifications and bid documents.

Responsibilities

  • Work on survey crew gathering field survey data using a total stations and review for completeness and accuracy.
  • Transfer this data to computer using GPS data collection software.
  • Assist with design and preparation of construction drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Calculate construction item quantities.
  • Conduct construction staking.
  • Inspect and test construction materials and assist in inspection of construction projects.
  • Document construction and material inspections.


Miscellaneous office/shop assignments

  • Maintains a clean/organized vehicle.
  • Occasional janitorial duties as needed.
  • Any other administrative, maintenance, or engineering duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Attending or will be attending a 2- or 4-year degree college.
  • Valid class “D” Minnesota Driver’s License.
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet computer applications
  • Physical ability to stop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
