Schwab Rehabilitation is looking for a compassionate, dedicated and energetic Registry Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist to join our highly trained and respected therapy team. This unique opportunity allows the SLP to expand their skills by working as a member of a large interdisciplinary team in Inpatient rehab (spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke and general) . One year of relevant experience is preferred.

Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital is a freestanding, not-for-profit, 102-licensed bed facility located in Chicago and offers the continuum of care from acute care to inpatient rehab to outpatient therapy for adults and children. Schwab is a proud member of Sinai Chicago and the first fully licensed and accredited rehabilitation hospital in the Midwest.

Schwab Rehabilitation offers 1 on 1 treatment/care in a unique therapeutic environment featuring 7 large treatment gyms, multiple private treatment rooms, a warm-water indoor therapeutic pool and an award-winning therapeutic rooftop garden. We have a large team consists of PT, OT, SLP and recreational therapists including several bilingual therapists and board certified specialists. Our rehabilitation team takes a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to address the physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs of each patient.

Registry tiers vary based on number shifts worked per month. ( $47.50/hour to $57.50/hour)

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Active State of Illinois SLP license or a Temporary SLP License issued by IDFPR
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech language Pathology
  • Active BLS certification

We are currently seeking an experienced SLP to join our Registry staff. The responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist are:

  • Evaluate, plan, interpret and implement specific treatment programs for patients with cognitive-communication or swallowing disorders in order to facilitate the patient's maximum recovery potential.

  • Develop goals and treatment plans based upon a comprehensive Speech-Language Pathology assessment and evaluation. Takes into account the goals of the patient, family, and/or caregiver as well as rehabilitation prognosis. Adjusts goals and treatment plans as necessary to meet patients' changing needs.

  • Supervise assigned students and support staff as applicable.

  • Provides effective, skilled, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions in all areas of cognitive, communication and swallowing disorders (individual and group therapy). Utilizes appropriate devices and/or special equipment to enhance patient's communication and/or swallowing skills.

  • Participates in discharge planning, including making appropriate discharge recommendations, and may include educating patient, family, and/or caregiver, providing a home program, arranging equipment needs and recommending follow-up care.

  • Licensed by the State of Illinois
