Rockdale County Public Schools (Conyers, GA) has an opening for a Middle School Principal for the 2023-2024 school year.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:  Valid certification in Educational Leadership. Master’s degree or higher is required.  A Minimum of three years successful experience as an Assistant Principal.  Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and the public.  Physical demands – position requires some sitting, standing, walking, and kneeling. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling will not normally exceed thirty (30) pounds, and will normally be in the area of ten (10) pounds.

JOB DUTIES:  Is present at work every day and arrives at assigned time.  Demonstrates an attitude and demeanor that contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill in the workplace.  Supervises the school’s educational program and works cooperatively with appropriate staff in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum.  Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all state and local policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.  Works cooperatively in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluation of the school’s staff as defined by board policy and regulations.  Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant.  Delegates authority to responsible persons to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.  Budget’s school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.  Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.  Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, affording due process rights to the students.  Asserts leadership in time of civil disobedience in school in accordance with established board policy.  Works cooperatively with the in-service orientation of training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions.  Supervises the preparation of all school reports for the district office.  Makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and instruction.  Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.  Prepares a school budget under direction of the district office and keep accurate financial records of the school’s budget.  Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.  Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.  Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers.  Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.  Assumes responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the school building(s) and grounds.  Assumes responsibility for the organization, operation, and evaluation of all school extra-curricular activities.  Assumes responsibility for operating a healthy and efficient lunchroom program.  Interprets school, district, and state testing programs to the staff and to the public.  Develops plans for educational improvement whenever district and state test indicators suggest such plans are needed.  Works cooperatively in the planning and implementation of the district program for exceptional children.  Participates in facility and professional meetings, educational conferences, and staff development opportunities.  Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, of criminal activity for which the employee becomes aware.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
