Job description
Counselor's duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Completing Psychoeducational evaluations, Functional Behavioral Assessments, and/or social-emotional evaluations for students referred for testing including new referrals, students on IEP plans, and/or students considered for 504 Plans;
- Providing counseling services to students on IEPs as well as to the regular education population (mood disorders, autism, anxiety, depression, ADHD, social skill deficits, conduct disorders) in order to foster positive coping strategies, motivation, and skill development:
- Attending IEP meetings as well as Student Support Team meetings:
- Providing Behavior Management consulting services to teachers and developing and implementing individual behavior plans for struggling students:
- Working closely with families (including parents or extended family members) who may be involved in the students life;
- Communicating with physicians and/or other mental health professionals involved with struggling students;
- Providing in-service training as needed on relevant issues
- Required: Bachelor's and Master's Degrees
- Required: Hold a MA DESE Licensed School Counselor in PreK-8 grade
- Candidate must possess strong communication and writing skills;
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required;
