General Summary

Maintains the plant, machinery and surroundings in compliance with AIB and plant Food Safety procedures, coordinates and assigns duties to sanitation technicians and ensures proper implementation and maintenance of all food safety and sanitation programs. Provides training and any resources needed within the scope of work.

Essential Functions

· Oversees and supervises the day operations of Sanitation Department.

· Ensures sanitation standards are achieve.

· Solves sanitation problems as they arise.

· Participates in management meetings to discuss Food Safety, Pre-Operational Inspections and Employees’ safety.

· Conducts pre-operational inspections prior to releasing equipment to Total Quality Department

· Coordinates with other departments the schedule hours for general clean-ups.

· Recommends transfers and/or promotions of Personnel to Management.

· Trains employees in handling chemicals and using lock out tag procedures.

· Suggests ideas for continuous improvement and changes in work instructions, job descriptions and training needs.

· Keeps paperwork current regarding to schedules, inspections, and inventories.

· Maintains and monitors Master Sanitation Schedule.

· Ensures adherence to AIB standards.

· Actively participates in the Preventive Controls program but not limited to internal auditing, training, implementation and corrective actions.

· Prepares reports to plant management

· Coordinates with sanitation technicians to maintain the plant clean and organized.

· Works directly with pest control operators to ensure plant is compliant with standards.

· Provides suggestions to improve process, procedures and department in support of company goals.

· Verifies all personnel are present and well suited to work.

· Ensures employees are effectively performing assigned tasks and evaluates performance at appropriate intervals.

· Maintains a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promotes teamwork.

· Trains new employees and monitors and evaluates their progress (includes Safety, Preventive Controls & Food Safety); recommends transfers and promotions.

· Fills in for supervisor in absence.

· Conducts monthly Safety training meetings and participates in communication meetings.

· Works in a safe manner, observing all safety requirements.

· Verifies GMP’s and Safety standards are maintained at all times and take action and/or follow-up when deficiencies are noted.

· Consistently applies company rules per employee handbook and per company policies (i.e. attendance, safety, etc.) and ensures safety regulations, policies and procedures are followed

· Monitors schedules, timecards, and prepare all HR – related paperwork, including disciplinary actions, ESNs, Attendance Forms, etc.

· Ensures compliance with the Preventive Controls and AIB gold standard.

· Ensures all food safety principles and legal requirements have been applied effectively.

· Follows all 5s practices by cleaning personal and company tools, clean assigned work areas after each use or prior to end of shift.

· Completes safety checks and individualized safety cross prior to the start of the shift.

· Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends

· Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education: High School Diploma. GED or equivalent required

Certifications: None

Experience:

· 5 years in Sanitation in a manufacturing facility, food/beverage environment preferred.

· Previous leadership experience strongly preferred.

*Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.75 per hour
