Baldwin’s Bookstore Sales Associate
Baldwin’s Literary Social is an independent new & used bookstore created to reintroduce reading as a center point of our social lives. Baldwin’s promotes a unique culture of literacy and education within our
East Metro Atlanta community. We are seeking several Bookstore Sales Associates.

The Bookstore Sales Associate is responsible for performing a variety of duties in a retail setting. The Associate operates cash registers, manages financial transactions, performs reconciliation of records to balance out drawers daily, stocks and prices merchandise. This Position assists with stocking and cash reconciliation of the coffee snack counter. Engagement with merchandise and providing outstanding customer service is vital. Physical strength and agility are required to lift and stock merchandise. Position requires evening and weekend hours to service our patrons and community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the daily activities of Baldwin’s Bookstore including display set ups, marketing inventory and sales of all bookstore merchandise.
  • Assists in processing purchase orders and receiving merchandise.
  • Assists in the daily recording and reconciliation of all cash, credit, check cashing and gift certificate transactions for bookstore.
  • Assists in maintaining and updating point of sale database, social media pages and website.
  • Effectively manages stock/inventory, and coffee/snack inventory.
  • Assists in processing all phone, web, and in person sales.
  • Effectively completes merchandizing activities including primary responsibility for regularly changing displays and promotions of bookstore merchandise, both on premises and through the online sales web sites.
  • Assists in the responsibility to ensure the store layout is attractive, clean and displays are replenished.
  • Assists the Bookstore Manager in collection of data and preparation of reports.
  • Adjusting task assignments to increase productivity.
  • Resolves and answers questions related to job function as presented by patrons, vendors, and the public.
  • Participates with Manager in planning intra-unit collaboration and workflow, cooperating to assist in completing time-critical or complex assignments.
  • Communicates problems or unusual situations to the Bookstore Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D required. Some college preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years customer service experience
  • An interest in literature including a love of books
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Word, and Publisher
  • Excellent phone and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, work scheduling and task completion.
  • Excellent abilities in customer relations and serving the public, and the ability to effectively communicate to members of the Landmark community, their parents, and the public.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule and must be able to work weekends.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data and situations.

PHYSICAL DEMAND: Ability to carry moderately heavy loads while negotiating doors and stairs are required. Extensive computer use involving repetitive hand and wrist motion is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: General retail and mall environment. Duties require regular interaction with children, students, educators, staff, the general public, and vendors.

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
