Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating Safety, Environmental, Health, and Security (SEHS) programs and processes under the guidance of the Safety, Environmental, Health and Security Manager. The position interacts with leaders and with employees to ensure a culture where each employee is accountable and responsible for Safety, Health & Environmental conditions, and behaviors. The SEHS Specialist ensures compliance with regulations and company policies, while routinely interacting with employees on our site production floors.


Essential Duties and Requirements include the following:

  • Serves as a resource to leaders and to employees regarding all safety-related matters, programs, and systems
  • Champions safety programs and promote safe work practices throughout the company
  • Communicates and responds in a timely and professional manner with all sites
  • Drives excellence through active participation on the production floors
  • Collaborates with vendors as needed to ensure the effective execution of services that produce outcomes that improve the overall safety engagement and effectiveness throughout the organization
  • Safety Incident Investigations:
    • Ensures thorough investigation of all incidents, in coordination with site leadership
    • Provides thorough root cause analysis to improve the quality of incident investigations and responds to safety incidents and near misses with a sense of urgency and a bias for action
    • Monitors and oversees the corrective action information system, the database, and data so it can be analyzed
  • Audits:
    • Tracks inspection and audit results
    • Assists with preparation for scheduled SEHS audits and ensures facilities are audit ready by completing document, training record, and facility inspections
    • Completes walk-through inspections of production facilities to ensure safe behaviors are being followed and to validate employee compliance
    • Provides support and assistance during on-site audits (OSHA, EPA, SQF, etc.) including attending opening conference, on-the-floor tours, record retrieval, closing conference, and driving completion of any generated CAPA
  • Behavior-Based Safety:
    • Completes Behavior Based Safety (BBS) observations
    • Enters/Monitors Behavior Based Safety Observation data and prepares the data in the database so that it can be analyzed by Management.
    • Maintains Behavior Based Safety Observation forms and materials as directed by the SEHS Manager or Department Management
  • Systems & Processes:
    • Enters/Monitors SEHS Incentive program data
    • Maintains and updates the SEHS intranet page
    • Oversees the completion of and/or completes OSHA Logs and ensures compliance with OSHA electronic recordkeeping requirements
    • Compiles and develops monthly reports/score cards for each facility
    • Receives invoices in the designated accounting system for services related to safety, health, and environmental
    • Partners with Training & Development function to ensure SEHS training records are maintained in the TH Foods Learning Management System (LMS)
    • Organizes and files SEHS information via scanning documents into electronic form or organizing paperwork into appropriate files
    • Assists employees and leadership with issues they may be having using SEHS hardware or software
    • Maintains SEHS document databases and repositories
    • Posts SEHS information on facility display screens and bulletin boards
    • Edits SEHS programs and presentations directed by the SEHS Manager
    • Translates or facilitates the translation of SEHS documents and other training materials into required languages
  • Assists facilities with compliance to internal programs
  • Facilitates and tracks annual hearing tests for all facilities
  • Coordinates first responder training and recertification training as needed
  • Provides leadership and oversight to the plant safety committees to improve team engagement, field employee feedback, and drive positive safety outcomes at the plant level
  • Responsible for recognizing and reporting food safety and employee safety issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Sharepoint.
  • Familiarization with Apple iDevices (iPads & iPhones)
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required, including public speaking skills
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if needed
  • Must be able to work well with others, within all levels of the organization
  • Honest, dependable, responsible, and act with a high level of integrity to fulfill obligations. Be able to work independently with a great deal of autonomy to produce the targeted safety results.
  • The right candidate will be able to work both independently and as a part of a team in a leadership role and be a self-starter/quick learner


Education and/or Experience

  • 2-5 years SEHS experience, preferred in Manufacturing or related field
  • OHST, STS, ASP certifications preferred
