Job Description:

The Nursing Supervisor supervises the day to day nursing activities at the facility during hours of duty. Ensures that all facility, state and local regulations are followed to ensure highest degree of quality of care is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the care and safety of all residents, ensuring that individual care plans are current, implemented and revised as necessary
  • Responsible for a comprehensive assessment of a resident’s physical, and/or mental status when indicated; and for appropriate follow up as indicated by the assessment
  • Responsible for the supervision of the team leaders and certified nursing assistants, nursing assistant trainees and for the completion of probationary and annual evaluations
  • Responsible for arranging the coverage for call offs and authorizing overtime only when necessary (in the absence of the DON, ADON and staffing coordinator)
  • Responsible for addressing family/visitor concerns as well as assuring the safety/security of the building
  • Supervises waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy
  • Receives medication deliveries from the pharmacy
  • Responsible for ensuring that the designated representative is notified of any change in the resident’s condition or plan of care.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the physician is informed of any change in the resident’s condition, abnormal lab results, diagnostic test results, consultant recommendation, etc.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Current New York State Professional License (LPN or RN)
  • Experience in long-term care facility preferred
  • Able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions
  • Ability to supervise and work well with and show respect toward other health care personnel (i.e., CNAs, LPNs, physicians, etc.), residents and their family members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness and kindness
  • Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
