L&M Carpet One Floor and Home is currently looking for someone like you. This is a position that only comes open every few years and we are excited to see where we can take it. All we need is you!

This role is an inside sales position, working with our team to better support our customers as they navigate the projects in their homes. From selling flooring to retail customers, to supporting the team with showroom design, there is terrific growth potential here at L&M Carpet One. The position requires interacting with customers and assisting them with product choices according to their individual needs. Whether that interaction occurs in our showroom or in the community, the objective is always to provide flooring advice that will make the customers' buying decision easier. This role will also receive internal coaching and will work closely with leadership to evolve the way we sell, as well as, lay a path to more opportunity and growth down the road.

Duties

Although not an all-inclusive list, the following are some of the duties and expectations that we have for this position: L&M Carpet One Floor and Home has a very strong onboarding and training plan, as we believe in investing our people, so we will help you grow the knowledge needed for success.

• Sell flooring and floor care products
• Greet customers on the sales floor, and determine their wants and needs while working with technology (including iPads provided for each team member)
• Keep up-to-date on the wide selection of floors we have to offer along with the benefits and warranties provided by each
• Provide outstanding customer service
• Enter sales orders
• Help work through, and follow-up after, the completion of each job
• Build client relationships
• Network regularly, and work effectively, with other store employees
• Create and execute targeted sales strategies
• Receive payment, or obtain credit authorization
• Use computer database to research the availability of merchandise and to process orders
• Follow up in a timely and professional manner with all customers on requests and/or concerns
• Answer questions from customers about flooring
• Assist customers with flooring selections (explain features/benefits, etc.)
• Help customers with their choice through decorating and/or design advice with the use of state-of-the-art digital visualizer software
• Maintain showroom by keeping samples and displays neat, current, and clean
• Prospect for new business

Requirements

The ideal candidate must be:

• Willing to divide his or her work time between the showroom floor, occasionally visiting clients to assist with selection, and prospecting for new clients (out networking within the community).
• Willing to undergo our extensive product and sales training to become a certified flooring and design expert.
• A self-starter.
• Personally well-organized.
• Willing to create new business.
• Able to provide outstanding customer service.
• Able to provide exceptional follow-up.

Some additional qualifications include:

• A passion for, or experience with, decorating or design
• Must have access to reliable transportation to get to work, and to visit customers' homes or job sites when necessary
• Open and flexible work availability, including rotational Saturdays with a day off during the week to offset weekends a Saturday is worked.
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office programs and a willingness to learn our operating systems.
• Retail sales experience would be a plus, but not required.

This role starts as salary role with a commission and bonus structure. As new hires become more comfortable and experienced, higher incentivized pay plans are available. The average sales team member starting with no prior sales experience or flooring experience earns on average $60k-$80k within the first full year after training. By year two, average $80k-$100k with no limit to growth. Providing superior customer service allows earning potential to exponentially grow as your personal client base develops.
