Registered Respiratory Therapist

Pay Range - $31.4800 - $43.3632


ROLE SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist will set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in development of new procedures.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise in CPR, NRP, ACLS, PALS and maintenance of the respiratory system in critical situations. Respond appropriately, maintaining a calm professional attitude.
  • Conducts provider prescribed treatments to include, but not limited to, continuous and intermittent aerosols, administration of oxygen and various medical vapors and gasses to the respiratory system of the patients, chest therapy involving percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning according to department policy.
  • Assesses and evaluate patients to implement therapist driven protocols as clinically and medically appropriate.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, Pulmonary Function Studies, Bronchoscopies, and Oximetry in a competent manner utilizing department policies.
  • Documents all pertinent information of treatment, patient response to treatment, and any patient instructions given on Respiratory Therapy Charting records, according to department policy.
  • Organizes work to make optimum use of your own time and ability. Work and plan with co-workers for times when cooperative effort is needed.
  • Knows role and responsibility during all emergency codes and Red Rules. Actively participates as part of the code team; responds to codes in a timely manner and may be required to perform CPR for extended periods of time.
  • Communicates appropriate information only with persons giving direct patient care.
  • Participate in the orientation and mutual professional success of newly hired staff, as well as mentoring and educating students that rotate through department.
  • Participates in and teach annual safety in-service covering chemical safety, electrical safety, fire safety, and biohazard safety.
  • Maintains knowledge level by reading current respiratory-related articles, attending skills fairs and professional conferences. Keep current on developments in Respiratory Care.
  • Consistently demonstrate a higher understanding of; respiratory anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, disease management, and interventions commensurate with registry level credentialing.
  • Utilizes supplies and equipment adequately.
  • Assists in the maintenance, setup, and infection control of all related respiratory equipment, consistent with policy and practice; supporting the team and preventing delay of patient care. .
  • Participate in activities as needed to promote community development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program required.

Experience: One to three years’ experience in the field preferred. Ability to draw ABGs.

Certified Respiratory Therapist - Pay Range: $29.4287 - $41.2002

Registered Respiratory Therapist - Pay Range: $31.4800 - $43.3632

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Respiratory Care Practitioner License required. American Heart Association BLS required until ACLS & PALS are obtained. ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred, required within 1 year.
