Position Summary

This position works on research investigating mental health and biomarkers (e.g., inflammation) across three generations (i.e., grandparents, parents, children). Primary responsibilities are data collection (including blood draws) and management of complex, longitudinal data sets.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Run participants through research protocol in the lab, including interviews, cognitive testing, and self-report questionnaires. Recruit study participants; may conduct surveys of participants.
  • Draw and process blood samples. Manage samples and maintain related lab equipment.
  • Manage incoming data, check for timeliness and completeness, log and enter data. Organize longitudinal data sets to be shared with various members of the research team as well as other labs with whom we are collaborating. Collect, manage and analyze data.
  • Assist with follow-up phone calls and various other aspects of the research project. Communicate with participants when necessary.
  • Coordinate undergraduate research assistants and other research staff. Assists with research projects. Perform independent research. Conduct searches for funding opportunities. Provide writing and editorial assistance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Psychology, Neuroscience, Communication Disorders or Cognitive Science.
  • Previous experience with psychological research, especially structured interview procedures or personality testing.
  • Previous experience with data collection related to research in public health.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and programming skills.
  • Experience with older adult research participants.
  • Research experience desirable.
  • Adaptive and resilient personality and able to work with people from many different backgrounds.
  • Sensitivity to mental health issues while also able to manage the collection of data on these topics.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is important because some participants must be tested during evening and weekend hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.
  • Some positions may require a Master's degree due to experience/knowledge required of research area.

Salary Range

$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
