Research Manager in the Sleep Medicine Research Program. The goals of the program are to study sleep pathophysiology and study the effects that sleep and sleep disorders have on other organ systems as well as to maximize the opportunities for training and support for young academic researchers in this area. The sleep medicine research team’s portfolio consists of 14 NIH funded, in addition to industry funded grants and 7 PIs. More information about the Sleep Medicine Research program can be found at

The Research Manager oversees research projects within division. This individual assists the Principal Investigators (P.I.) in preparing and managing research projects, budgets, pre-post-award grants management, IRB and may have involvement in staffing and all related HR activity.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage sleep lab operations and insure maintenance of office equipment including PCs, servers’ infrastructure, conference audiovisual, vendor payment, and vendor contracts (HVAC, housekeeping, electricians, and building management)
  • Manages pre-post award grants.
  • Management and Training of Research Coordinators: Oversee the day-to-day operations studies. Delegate duties among research coordinators and sleep lab technicians. Provide continuous training on subject recruitment, administration of neuropsychological tests, and analysis of behavioral sleep data. Oversee development and updates of source documentations, data capture, and optimizing logistics for both ongoing and prospective sleep research projects to maximize operational efficiency. Conduct periodic review and evaluation of efficacy.
  • Human Subjects Protections Compliance: Ensure IRB compliance for principal investigator’s clinical and observational trials by conducting thorough review of protocols for clinical trials. Submit IRB amendments and continuing review approvals. Conduct regulatory review of IRB submissions to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects.
  • T32 grant management
  • Arranges for the availability of human and material resources to facilitate positive outcomes for assigned research projects.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of ongoing quality improvement activities as per policies and protocols.
  • May be responsible for human resources, including recruitment, hiring, evaluating, retention, discipline and termination.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in sciences or related degree
  • 5 years’ experience in an academic/medical environment and 1 year supervisory

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,160.00 - $105,059.92 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
