Position Purpose:

Working as a key member of the Brand and PR Team within the Marketing and Strategy department, this role will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team by planning, designing and implementing effective social media communications. The Senior Associate, Social Media, will manage our company image in a cohesive way in order to achieve our marketing goals; and will be accountable for leading social media communication and reputation management strategy, consistent with the company’s strategic goals and priorities, and in consultation with the Marketing leadership team.

Key Job Activities:


Social Media

  • Lead the North American social media paid and organic strategy for the Regulated Medical Waste and Shred-it business units, as well as Stericycle Corporate channels, including content calendar review, paid media planning, community management oversight and campaign strategy.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of timely, relevant and engaging social media content to support business objectives.
  • Manage online reputation: ensure all web and social media applications are monitored to identify, document and resolve any issues and/or criticism of the company’s brand or services, and monitor/report on both short- and long-term reputation trends and brand sentiment.
  • Ensure proper usage and reference to our brand via social channels, in alignment with our brand strategy and social media policy.
  • Track the impact of social media as it relates to program and overall marketing goals.
  • Generate and monitor ongoing analytics reports and ad-hoc campaign reports that show how social media campaigns are performing, in a way that is meaningful to the rest of the marketing team.
  • Manage the social media budget and track paid media campaign budgets and monthly invoicing to ensure alignment with overall budget.
  • Lead employee advocacy program to activate team members to engage online.
  • Monitor trends and implement a testing strategy to test new and alternative ways to engage and drive business goals in social spaces.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and key social media conversations to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide social media support and counsel to internal stakeholders as needed and assist with executive visibility.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and departments, like marketing, sales, operations and customer experience to ensure brand reputation and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain sound working relationships with vendors. Ensure projects are managed appropriately, deliverables are met and funds are spent wisely. Drive process and efficiency improvements in all ongoing initiatives.
  • Ensure high quality, timely roll out of social programs through effective collaboration.
  • Interest or experience in video development or strategy an asset.

Education, Experience & Key Competencies Required :

Bachelor's or college degree in a marketing discipline or equivalent work experience.
5+ years experience in a marketing role, preferably in a social, B2B services environment
Must have a strong understanding of online marketing and social networking.
Demonstrated social media knowledge, including advanced experience with social media campaign strategy, development, monitoring, analysis and reporting across Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube.
Budgetary experience, including the ability to allocate for campaigns based on expected ROI and track expenses against projections.
Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional partners to develop strategic plans and KPIs.
Experience using a project or content management tool. Familiarity with Wrike an asset.
Experience managing and working with external agencies, consultants and vendors.
Proficient in program or project management with effective time and priority management skills; ability to work independently, and manage multiple projects.
Strong computer skills are required, including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Advanced knowledge of social media management tools (Hootsuite, Falcon and others). Knowledge of social media listening tools, such as Meltwater, Cision, BrandWatch.
Advanced knowledge of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter advertising platforms, as well as analytics platforms including Facebook Insights, Twitter analytics, LinkedIn Company Page Analytics and Google Analytics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement and decision-making skills.
Possesses the ability to embrace change and actively look to enhance and improve current processes. (flexibility)
