San Bernardino County is recruiting for Rehabilitation Services Aides who assist rehabilitation staff (Physical, Occupational, Speech, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Therapists) in the care and treatment of patients of all ages, and perform various patient care, and clerical support duties.

The immediate vacancy exists at the Department of Public Health, California Children's Services Program at the Fontana Medical Therapy Unit. The resulting eligible list will be used to fill future vacancies as they occur in both the Department of Public Health and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Physical: Must have physical ability to lift and/or assist in lifting 50 pounds or more. Employees must perform activities that require bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
Background: Applicant must pass a background investigation; and verification of employment history and education.
ARMC Positions: Positions assigned to ARMC may be required to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet one (1) of the following options:
Option 1: Six (6) months of experience assisting rehabilitation staff with patient care duties.
Option 2: Successful completion of a Nursing Attendant or Nursing Assistant program. Applicants must provide a legible copy of their program certification.

Option 3: Twelve (12) semester (18 quarter) units of completed college coursework in one (1) of the following programs or equivalent class hours:
  • Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy
  • Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Registered Nurse
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse

Note:
A list of completed college coursework must be submitted with the application if the candidate does not possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in one (1) of the fields of study listed above. Unofficial transcripts are accepted. C oursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired Qualifications

English/Spanish bilingual skills are desired. For consideration of bilingual assessments, applicants must indicate bilingual ability on the application. Employees receive additional compensation for utilizing such skills when allocated to a bilingual position, as approved by the department. Bilingual testing may be required.

Selection Process

The online examination will be administered after a review of all applications has been completed. The examination will consist of an evaluation of knowledge and skills in the following topics:

  • Clinic Procedures
