Position: Registered Nurse - RN

Reports To: Clinical Trials Site Manager

Department: Clinical Operations

Status: Full time, Non-Exempt

Location: White Hall, Arkansas


POSITION SUMMARY
:


The Registered Nurse (RN) acts as part of the clinical operations team. This position will be used to provide Clinical Trial services in many varied settings. This position may be providing:

  • direct patient care of research study participants through home visits, mobile health clinics, research institutions and telehealth
  • ensure participant safety, data integrity and maintain protocol standards while adhering to ICH GCP guidelines
  • clinical trial coordination in varied therapeutic areas and different phases of research
  • scope and nature of the assignment will be based on the setting assigned to the RN


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pediatric/Adult/Geriatric assessment and treatment to align with the providers licensure, medical history, physical exam, medication reconciliation, diagnosis, and health education
  • Clear documentation according to EmVenio guidelines and protocols is required
  • Services may be provided in a variety of venues
  • RNs are expected to achieve EmVenio standards for quality, customer service, productivity and teamwork through participation in Risk and Quality Improvement programs, clinical meetings and other meetings as required
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical research specialists, leaders, family members, key care givers and any ancillary medical personnel as appropriate
  • Requires clear communication with key stakeholders such as the Principal Investigator, clinical trials team and quality department, regulatory
  • Certain assignments may require provider to perform ECGs, draw blood (Phlebotomy), process and ship lab specimen, IV infusions, and injections
  • Consults with the Site Manager and Clinical Research Coordinator to ensure compliance with guidelines
  • Reviews the medical and social history of members
  • Assist in building the community and developing relationships within that community
  • Participates in recruitment of participants to include personally engaging the general public face to face in local across hard to reach communities, attending community events, speaking with physicians and people across diverse cultures and backgrounds to support meeting participant enrollment targets
  • Documents recruiting efforts and outreach progress
  • Facilitates conversations with potential participants through both inbound and outbound calls sometimes serving as their first introduction to research
  • Participates in recruitment of participants
  • Performs appropriate screening procedures for participants
  • Is compliant with OSHA, State Board of Nursing
  • Participates in all mandatory compliance, patient engagement and other training programs, seeks guidance for compliance-related concerns and adheres to all applicable laws, regulations and EmVenio policies and procedures
  • Maintains positive control of all PHI information
  • Performs other duties as assigned


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Educational/Licensure Requirements:

  • Current unrestricted licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) to which the candidate is assigned
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Maintains nursing license in good standing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Minimum of 2 years Clinical research preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate computer skills, including use of e-mail and Microsoft office word and excel
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective written communication skills including but not limited to writing reports and correspondence
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective verbal communication skills, including but not limited to speaking effectively to trial participants, providers, families and staff and listening to participants, providers and families
  • Professional and passionate and about educating members of the community about clinical trials and therapeutic areas that most impact them
  • Must be responsive to an environment supporting shared management/oversight based on cross departmental functions
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and use time effectively and efficiently. Concentrates efforts on priorities

Travel Requirements:

  • May be required if hired for a travel position
  • Must have valid state driver license and be able to drive a car
  • Must have proof of adequate automobile insurance coverage for the state of residence
  • Must be able to travel by public transportation, and airplanes
  • Must be able to independently travel to assigned locations


Physical and Psychological Demands:

  • Requires prolonged sitting
  • Requires bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, crawling and/or stretching from seated or standing positions
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, telephone, copier, calculator and other office equipment
  • Requires close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust visual focus, hearing and smelling.
  • Must be able to communicate information via telephone or computer
  • Requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity of the job
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to observe “Universal Precautions” for blood-borne pathogens and body fluids

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Master’s Degree required OR commensurate experience and satisfactory completion of NP licensure


Licensure/Certifications

  • Current RN and NP licensure in state of practice
  • Board certification by AANP, AACN or ANCC, in Adult, Family Practice and Geriatrics or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, or ACNPC-AG (Adult Gero) Acute Care NP, or ACNPC (Adult) Acute Care NP
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification
