Registered Environmental Health Specialist
(Provisional, Pending Civil Service Procedures)

Duties: Under direction, performs sanitary inspection and environmental health work involved in the enforcement of relevant sanitary, environmental, and public health laws and rules within the concerned jurisdiction; conducts inspections, investigations, and educational outreach activities; performs other related duties as required and/or necessary.

Requirements: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey and a valid Registered Environmental Health Specialist License issued by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services.

Environmental Health Specialist (Starting Salary $44,649)
(Provisional, Pending Civil Service Procedures)

Duties: Under direction, conducts investigations, inspections, and gathers data for the purpose of identifying, evaluating, preventing, and eliminating environmental health hazards; May perform mosquito inspection and extermination; does related work as required.

Requirements:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in the environmental, biological, or chemical sciences or in environmental engineering.
Note: A valid Professional Engineer's License issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers' and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the degree in environmental engineering.

Experience: One (1) year of professional experience in environmental control work including field investigations and inspections and environmental impact analysis.
Note: Possession of an environmentally oriented Master's degree in the environmental, biological, or chemical sciences, or in engineering may be substituted for the above work experience.

License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey

Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing, to include drug screenings, and criminal background checks.
