Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.

The MH Regional Supervised Housing Program is to reduce the length of stay in local and state psychiatric facilities by providing a living environment that will maximize the individual’s opportunities and independence by providing quality supports, training and individualized services to individuals with mental health and possible co–occurring substance abuse.

Peer Recovery Specialist I provides peer support; serves as a consumer advocate; carries out support functions. The Peer Recovery Specialist may assist individuals with basic physical, financial, social, personal, and recovery needs. Services carried out by the Peer Recovery Specialist I include monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, and similar functions.

Requirements:

Must be a person who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition and who has a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery to include making progress in learning about and managing his or her condition and in developing a life outside of, or in addition to, this condition. Must successfully pass all required trainings within the first 15 days of employment.

Valid Driver's License.Please submit your Department of Motor Vehicle driving record current within the last 60 days.

As a condition of employment with Hampton – Newport News CSB, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID 19 or fit within an exemption under the law.
