The QUIKRETE Companies, LLC the leading packaged cement and concrete products producer, has an immediate opening for a highly motivated entry level individual for our Regional Maintenance Engineer Development Program, Northeast US– to be based out of Perryville, MD.

We are looking for an entry level engineer who is interested in travel and a challenging mix of design and hands-on implementation of maintenance, capital improvements, upgrades, and safety for the 11 production facilities in Quikrete’s Northeast US region.

This position will work with experienced personnel to learn:

  • Project planning and project implementation to improve operating and/or cost efficiency, safety and environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Equipment maintenance to provide for consistent, efficient, and continual operation
  • Scheduling programs for ongoing and rebuild maintenance, set-up and utilization of MaintainX (A computerized maintenance management system)
  • How to assist plants with technical and operational issues to achieve productivity targets
  • Troubleshooting of equipment
  • Selection and installation of replacement or new equipment
  • And much more

You will work as both part of a team and individually on assignments and training during the initial one-year development phase. Upon successful completion, the candidate will become a Regional Maintenance Engineer in the Northeast for QUIKRETE.

Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 2 year degree in Engineering Technology with some work experience
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Willingness to travel – estimated at 50-75% of the time, primarily in the Northeast US (Maryland to New Hampshire)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD experience
  • Confidence in “hands-on” work as well as design
  • Ability to learn and follow safety protocols
  • Experience or coursework in any of the following is a plus:
  • Industrial control systems
  • Material handling, drying, and storage, with dry bulk materials such as sand, cement, concrete
  • Capital project budgeting
  • CMMS, maintenance budgeting, cost estimating
  • Electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • Specification writing
  • Safety
  • Governmental compliance
  • Dust collection, environmental compliance and environmental control systems

Working Conditions

  • Primarily indoors, ranging from office environment to plant production floor. Local weather conditions can vary with seasonal temperature extremes, dust, rain, wind and snow
  • Environment may have occasional exposure to cement dust and electrical systems, while wearing proper PPE
  • Hearing protection and respiratory use required in designated locations
  • Requires the ability to climb heights (steps, ladders and ramp walkways with handrails)
